Erectile dysfunction (ED)

Can erectile dysfunction be reversed?

Erectile dysfunction is a common experience nowadays, it can be reversed with medications or without medications. Pelvic floor exercises, Relaxation techniques, and medical treatment may help to treat erectile dysfunction. There are two types of ED, one is primary ED another is Secondary ED.

Primary ED: It occurs when a man has never been able to maintain an erection, which is rare.

Secondary ED: It occurs in people who once had regular erectile dysfunction, which is common.

Secondary ED is temporary and can be reversed. On the contrary, Primary ED requires more intensive and medical-based treatments. ED can be treated with surgery or medications. Some men use a phallus pump, which draws blood into the phallus and induces an erection. There are three categories to reversing ED.

Short-term treatment: Short-term treatments help with achieving or maintaining erections but it doesn’t address the underlying cause of ED. It increases blood flow to the penis for short-term relief from ED. It also helps people, those who have diabetes and atherosclerosis to get erections.

Addressing the underlying Cause: Primary treatments address the issue that caused ED. Take medication or exercise more frequently which improves cardiovascular health when clogged arteries are responsible.

Psychological treatments: Psychological treatments can reduce anxiety, improve relationships with sexual partners, and increase Self-confidence.

Ways to Reverse erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction can be the first sign of diabetes-related nerve damage, or cardiovascular disease. The cause of ED can be physical, but the condition can still have psychological effects, which lead to self-consciousness or anxiety, which makes it more difficult to maintain an erection.

  1. Lifestyle changes:

Lifestyle improvement may cause issues that cause erectile dysfunction, such as diabetes and clogged arteries. Lifestyle changes include:

  • Exercising to improve blood flow.
  • Improve cholesterol and testosterone levels, lose weight, lower blood pressure
  • Using relaxation exercises to maintain ED-related stress and it also control blood pressure.
  1. Pelvic floor exercises:

Pelvic floor exercise helps men to urinate and ejaculate. This exercise improves erectile dysfunction. It helps men with diabetes to maintain an erection.

  1. Counseling or Couples therapy:

Erectile dysfunction can negatively impact self-esteem. It may be difficult for males to talk about it. When it comes to depression or anxiety, it’s important to acknowledge and discuss erectile dysfunction. A psychologist helps individuals to manage and resolve issues of anxiety. Couples therapy can also help sexual partners to talk about their feelings and find constructive ways to communicate about erectile dysfunction.

  1. Herbal and Alternative Remedies:

Men find alternative and complementary therapies such as acupuncture, to help with erectile dysfunction.

  1. Medication:

Medicines such as tadalafil(Cialis) and Viagra helps in erectile dysfunction, they increase blood flow to the penis which helps to maintain an erection. Medication can be effective when the cause of ED is physical. It works well when the cause is related to anxiety. Some medications make ED worse such as blood pressure medication, which lower blood flow to the penis which makes it hard to get an erection.

  1. Medication changes:

Certain medications have the potential to exacerbate erectile dysfunction. For instance, blood pressure medication can reduce blood flow to the penis, resulting in difficulties in achieving an erection. Individuals who suspect that their ED may be linked to a medication should inform their physician. There are often alternative medications available.

  1. Utilization of mechanical devices

Penis pumps can assist in drawing blood into the penis and facilitating an erection for the majority of men, even those with severe nerve damage. In cases of significant nerve or blood vessel damage, the use of a ring can aid in maintaining blood within the penis.

Even in the presence of serious physical health conditions, a mechanical device can typically aid in achieving an erection.

  1. Surgical intervention

In instances where other treatment methods prove ineffective, or when there is an anatomical cause of ED, surgery may be recommended by a physician. This procedure involves the insertion of a device that allows for immediate erections. Surgery is generally successful, with a complication rate of less than 5 percent.

Conclusion

Erectile function is common and can be reversed by using natural remedies or medications to get an erection.
